Here is page one of a two-page article entitled "The 'Cat's Whiskers.'" It was published originally in the February 1954 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 10. Top Photo Caption: "Clearance car, with 'whiskers' extended, measures Radebaugh Tunnel. Car covers entire System every four years." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8850, an AS-16MS built by the American Locomotive Company in December of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower.

Here is an original 35mm color slide of Pennsylvania Railroad "Clearance Car" #497125 in transit. It's being pulled by PRR engine #7862, a BS-6A switcher built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as number "5962" in March of 1948, rated at 660 horsepower, and renumbered "7862" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.
