Now restored and the site of a local rail museum, the old Rock island Depot at Council Bluffs, Iowa was in sad shape in the early 1980s. Note the BN switcher moving cars across what was once a busy main line for the "Rock". It wasnt long after this photos was taken that the Rock was crushed to bankrupt ballast. |

The south and east sides of the CRIP depot at Rock Island, IL on 27 Jun. '14. The depot was built in 1901. The last passenger train left the station 31 May ’78. The City of Rock Island purchased it from the Iowa Interstate RR in 1994 and restored the exterior in 1996.
